This handsome boy is Fendt named after the German tractor manufacturer 🚜
He has just turned 5 years of age, he’s a healthy boy and about to be neutered. We have been asked to find him an experienced home after he was originally signed over to another rescue.
Fendt had been living on a farm where he had full run to come and go as he pleased. Over a period of a year he cut his pads several times needing stitches. (at the vets they commented on how they treated him with ease) Sadly on one occasion his owner picked up his paw to see why he was limping and he bit them. (He has also had his nails and dew claws cut at the vets and again they did it with no issues.)
While at his first home we have been told that Fendt used to visit a group of disabled people very much like a support dog, which we believed he really enjoyed, which made his bite even more surprising.
The rescue placed him in a nice home and were very shocked to hear that he had bitten the ladies arm after he had been playing and goofing around in the garden with the gentleman. But they had no idea what caused this to happen.
Fendt has been staying at boarding kennels for the last two weeks with members of the team who are very experienced and who are assessing his behaviours. They are testing him daily to see his reactions and checking his paws several times a day without any issues.
They had seen that he was originally reactive towards other males. But recently he hasn’t been overly bothered even when a gobby male charged at his run. This might be helped after neutering next week. He is also in the process of being whistle trained in their secure fields, while having great fun. He’s also been given lots of toys which he collected and took to his bed. 🥰
We will be looking for a child free and pet free home for Fendt where he could have ongoing training and maybe a hobby like scent work or Canicross, something to give him purpose and focus.
Fendt is currently in Goole in East Yorkshire, he will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract.
